Welcome to "10 Essentials to the Christian Life"
The following studies have been designed to be used as personal devotions, one on one discipling of another, or for small groups.
To gain the most benefit from these studies, please...
- Pray before each study
- Ask the Holy Spirit to give you insight and direction
- Take necessary time to discuss verses and questions
- Review memory verse/verses from the previous studies
- Have each person involved
- Stay focused on the topic of study
The law of teaching is to know that...
Telling isn't teaching
Listening isn't learning
You learn to do by doing
The law of progression...
Tell why
Show how
Get started
Keep going
Help reproduce
Three goals to have for your study time...
Seek - What does God have to say?
Learn - What does this really mean?
Apply - How does this affect my life personally?
* These studies are only tools in helping you in your initial growth with Christ. My prayer is that you would have an appetite for the Word of God and that you would desire to grow closer daily in your walk with our Lord Jesus Christ.
* Have a personal notebook/journal that is used for Bible study, prayer and other comments. This will be beneficial for all participants.
(See next page for sample copy)
Start a notebook/journal by using this model or one similar.
This is only a sample format. The 4 "P" approach.

Previous Day...Example:
Had a great morning with Brett, Greg and Terry. Our time of fellowship has been very beneficial. Barb is really growing in her relationship with Kim. God is using her to minister to many of the ladies here in our area. Rachel and Benji have been healthy. Praise the Lord! Rachel is really enjoying watching the Christian videos we have.
Passage = Scripture reading...Example:
Psalm 127:1-5
1. If the Lord is not in control, you are building and working for nothing.
2. God must be the total focus of all we do.
3. It is foolish to stay up, work long hours and be tired if God is not directing your work. God blesses His kids.
4. Children are a treasure/blessing from the Lord. Kids are our most prized possessions. We must invest and train them properly.
5. A strong family is essential. God desires strong, stable families.
Prayer...Example:
1. Baseball strike for a resolution
2. Barb - Health, strength
3. Jim - Travel and time in Virginia
4. Tom - Youth retreat with a church in Indiana
5. Wisdom in dealing with Joe and his marriage
6. Don and his ministry in Arizona with players
7. Time I'll be spending with family today
Praise...Example:
1. Rachel is starting to learn some praise songs
2. For the truths that God is teaching me in the Word
3. For God's continued financial blessings
(Barb - Wife...Rachel - Daughter...Benji - Son)
* In keeping a notebook/journal...God has allowed me to experience much growth. I have been able to retain many of the thoughts that God gives that in the past were lost. For many of us our retention ability is very shallow or fragmented.
* My suggestion is to take one book in the Bible, example the Gospel of John, and study the entire book from John 1:1 - 21:25. Write down any thoughts or insights that God gives you in your journal. Try and do this daily if possible. God will bless your time!
