Romans 12:1-3
I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. For through the grace given to me I say to every man among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
** There are certain things you cannot control in life, as well as in the game of baseball.
** Often times we set goals that are uncontrollable, unrealistic and unattainable.
For example - (A) Batting Average (B) Home Runs (C) RBI's
(D) Won/Lost Record (E) Era (F) Strike Out/Walk Ratio...
I believe we should measure our success based on a few items that we can control.
Attitude
Concentration
Effort
Worship Total
On a scale from 1 - 10...grade yourself.
1 = Poor
10 = Excellent
Attitude:
Philip. 2:5-7
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
Mark 10:43-45
...but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
Concentration:
Hebrews 12:1-3
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you may not grow weary and lose heart.
Philip. 4:8-9
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things; and the God of peace shall be with you.
Effort:
Col. 3:23
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men;
1 Cor. 10:31
Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. |
