THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LOVE:

A. PHILEO = BROTHERLY LOVE                            B. EROS = PASSIONATE LOVE
C. AGAPE = SACRIFICIAL LOVE                          D. STORGE = FAMILY LOVE

WEBSTER'S =      LOVE = A STRONG AFFECTION FOR ANOTHER;  DEVOTION.
LUST = PLEASURE; DELIGHT; AN INTENSE  DESIRE.

SOME MISCONCEIVED IDEAS ABOUT LOVE:

1.________________________________________________________________________

2.________________________________________________________________________

TWO THINGS WE CAN DO TO KEEP LOVE ALIVE:

1.__________________________________ 2.____________________________________

                                                    ASK WHAT LOVE IS:

1. LOVE IS A MATTER OF______________________________.
COL. 3:14 - "AND OVER ALL VIRTUES, PUT ON LOVE,  WHICH BINDS THEM ALL TOGETHER."

2. LOVE IS A MATTER OF______________________________.
1 JOHN 3:18 - " LET US  NOT LOVE WITH WORDS OR TONGUE,  BUT WITH ACTIONS AND TRUTH."

3. LOVE IS A________________________________________.
1 JOHN 4:11,19,21    V.11 -"... WE ALSO OUGHT TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER."

                                                  ACT LIKE LOVE ACTS:

1. LOVE IS ALIVE WHEN IT HAS___________________________________________...
IS DYING WHEN IT IS HURRIED... IS DEAD WHEN IT CAN NOT________________.

1 COR. 13:4 - "LOVE IS PATIENT..."
EPH. 4:2  {CEV} - "... PATIENTLY PUT UP WITH EACH OTHER AND LOVE EACH OTHER."
** ALSO SEE THE LIVING BIBLE / LIFE APPLICATION NOTE.

2. LOVE IS ALIVE WHEN IT _______________________________________________...
IS DYING WHEN IT FORGETS... IS DEAD WHEN IT_________________________.

1 COR. 13:4 -  "...LOVE IS KIND..."
EPH. 4:32 - "BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER, TENDER-HEARTED, FORGIVING EACH OTHER, JUST AS GOD IN CHRIST ALSO HAS FORGIVEN YOU."
** ALSO SEE LIFE APPLICATION NOTE.
YOUR LEVEL OF FORGIVENESS WILL DETERMINE THE LEVEL OF YOUR LOVE.  TC
JESUS IS OUR GREATEST EXAMPLE. HE LOVES AT THE GREATEST LEVEL!
THE GREATEST LEVEL = "AGAPE"

3. LOVE IS ALIVE WHEN IT IS_______________________________________________...
IS DYING WHEN IT STARTS DOUBTING... IS DEAD WHEN IT STOPS_________________.

1 COR. 13:4 - "IT DOES NOT ENVY, IT DOES NOT BOAST, IT IS NOT PROUD."
ENVY - BOASTING - PRIDE = INSECURITY

4. LOVE IS ALIVE WHEN IT IS______________________________________________...
IS DYING WHEN IT IS EXCHANGING... IS DEAD WHEN IT IS_______________________.

JOHN 15:13 -  "GREATER LOVE HAS NO ONE THAN THIS, THAT ONE LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR  HIS FRIENDS."  ** TOTAL GIVING!

C.S. LEWIS SAID... THAT TO LOVE AT ALL IS TO BE VULNERABLE. LOVE ANYTHING AND YOUR HEART WILL CERTAINLY BE WRUNG AND POSSIBLY BROKEN. IF YOU WANT TO BE SURE OF KEEPING IT INTACT, YOU MUST GIVE YOUR HEART TO NO ONE. LOCK IT UP SAFE IN THE CASKET OR COFFIN OF YOUR SELFISHNESS, BUT IN THAT CASKET, SAFE, DARK, MOTIONLESS, AIRLESS, IT WILL CHANGE. IT WILL NOT BE BROKEN, BUT IT WILL BECOME UNBREAKABLE, IMPENETRABLE, IRREDEEMABLE. THE ONLY PLACE OUTSIDE OF HEAVEN WHERE YOU CAN BE SAFE FROM ALL DANGERS OF LOVE IS HELL.

5. LOVE IS ALIVE WHEN IT________________ITS WAY INTO ______________________...  IS DYING WHEN IT FEELS AND DOESN'T ACT, OR ACTS BUT CANNOT FEEL...
IS DEAD WHEN IT NO LONGER ACTS OR FEELS.

1 COR. 13:7 - "LOVE ALWAYS PROTECTS, ALWAYS TRUST, ALWAYS HOPES,
ALWAYS PERSEVERES."

SOME REALITIES ABOUT LOVE:

1. THE______________YOU START...THE MORE_________________YOU WILL BECOME.

2 LOVE IS_______________________________________________________________.

3. LOVE IS_______________________________________________________________.

4. LOVE IS NOT___________________________________________________________.

5. LOVE MAKES ALL______________________AND_______________________________.

TO LOVE IS TO LIVE !  YOU STOP LIVING WHEN YOU STOP LOVING.

Love  =  devotion                                        Lust  =  desire

Love is not conditional. If my ability to love you is based on you meeting certain standards, I have ceased to love as CHRIST loves. The world teaches us to love conditionally. Jesus teaches and commands us to love unconditionally.    T C

Agape Love is selfless in nature - not selfish.

John 13:34
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
We are to receive God's love,
Our ability to receive God's love is based on having a proper view of ourselves. God loves us unconditionally. His grace is tremendously amazing. He accepts us just as we are.
We are to release God's love in us and thru us ,
We are to reproduce God's love in a lost and lonely world.
1 Cor. 16:14
Let all that you do be done in love.
My motivation for doing anything must be based on love.
Ephes. 4:2
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love,
Ephes. 4:15    but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ,
Col. 3:14     And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
John 15:13   "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
John 10:11    "I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
v.15    even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; I lay down My life for the sheep.  Romans 5:6-8    For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  [7] For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.  [8] But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Ephes. 5:2    and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
1 John 4:7-11     Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  [8] The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.  [9] By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.  [10] In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  [11] Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1 Peter 4:8     Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
1 John 4:20-21    If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for

the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.  [21] And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.
