Discipleship is one of the cores of UPI as a ministry. We take seriously the need of players to know what they believe and why they believe it. The teaching takes place in many different ways and venues.
All the guys have been involved in Baseball Chapel over the years with Tim Cash being the chapel leader for the Braves, Brian Hommel the chapel leader for the Diamondbacks and Tom Roy, Bryan Hickerson and Mickey Weston (current chapel leader) all having been chapel leaders for the White Sox.
Tim and Brian have also been involved extensively in discipling players on a consistent basis in their respective cities during the off-season. Both have written many studies to use with the players and their spouses as they have conducted discipleship times for the couples and the players individually on a weekly basis. |
