You may wonder what hunting has to do with UPI and, a first glance, it doesn’t seem like they do have much in common. At closer inspection, though, you will find that many MLB ballplayers LOVE to hunt. As a result of the passion many of them have for the outdoors and for the Word of God, UPI began conducting one or two hunts for players during the off-season.
These hunts are a time when guys can come together and experience the thrill of the hunt and then spend time looking at God’s Word and being challenged to be the men that the Lord has called them to be. Some might call it “playing with a purpose” and others might call it simply an escape, but any way you look at it it is a time for iron to sharpen iron and men to be real with each other. |
