Operations director/Military

Bryan Hickerson was born October 13, 1963 in Bemidji, Minnesota where he graduated high school in 1982.  He was drafted in the 7th round by the Minnesota Twins in 1986 after completing a B.S. degree and pitching 4 years at the University of Minnesota.  He met his wife, Jo, at the U of M and they were married in November 1987.  The following spring Bryan was traded to the San Francisco Giants, with whom he spent the next 8 seasons.  He missed the entire 1988 season due to an injury.

His Major League debut was in 1991 and he remained with the club as both a reliever and starter through the 1994 season.  He signed with the Chicago Cubs in 1995 and was traded to the Colorado Rockies halfway through the season.  After 3 weeks in spring training camp with the Cincinnati Reds Bryan retired from professional baseball as a player.  He spent the 1997 and 1998 seasons as a pitching coach back the Giants organization while also doing part time work with UPI in the off-season.  He came on staff full time with UPI in November 1998.  He currently oversees UPI’s outreach to the military.

He and Jo have 4 children; Emily (1991), Joey (1992), Claire (1995), and Tommy (1997).
