Tim Cash
resumé
"In June 1984, my childhood dream of playing professional baseball became a reality. I signed a pro contract with the Houston Astros. During my four years with the Houston Astros, and on with the LA Dodgers, I experienced much success with baseball. In spite of all the fame and fun that came with baseball, I still felt a serious void in my life. I discovered that playing professional baseball wasn't the real answer to this empty feeling deep within. I remember pondering questions concerning life back in 1985, after undergoing my first arm operation. "What is life?" "Why am I on planet Earth?" In my search for significance I asked, "What can really satisfy me?"
After all, Tim Cash was a good person. He attended church from time to time as a boy and even said his prayers occasionally.
"I didn't realize it then, but the reason I felt empty was because I was separated from a relationship with my Creator. In the Bible we read that the cause of separation from God is sin. We try to fill this place that God deserves in our lives with friends, success, possessions and pleasure, but, apart from Him, there is no true satisfaction even from the "good things" that life has to offer. The truth is that Jesus alone is the answer to a fulfilling life. For even when we did not acknowledge God, He loved us. God loves us so much that HE sent His son, Jesus Christ, into the world to set us free from sin and to allow us to have a relationship with God. The Bible says that God showed His love toward us and even though we were still sinners, Christ dies for us (Romans 5:8). On calvary's cross, Jesus took our sin and paid the price once and for all.
Through faith in Jesus, each one of us can be forgiven and restored to have fellowship with our Maker. Through the blood that Jesus shed on the cross, that feeling of emptiness I once had has been replaced by the assurance of peace and hope for the future.
Do you have similar feelings of emptiness? If you do, God has the answer.
- Acknowledge that God loves you and that He has a wonderful plan for your life. 'For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.' (John 3:16)"
- Realize that you are separated from God and turn to Him. 'For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.' (Romans 3:23) 'For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Romans 6:23)
- Understand that Jesus is the only way your sins can be forgiven. 'If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.' (I John 1:9)
- Trust in Jesus Christ. Receive Him as your personal Savior and believe that through Him you can have eternal life with God. 'That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.' (Romans 10:9)
If you would like to trust Christ with your eternity you can pray, 'God thank you that you love me so much that you sent your son, Jesus Christ, to die for me. I do confess that I am a sinner and I want to repent and turn to God from my sin. I want my life to now glorify you. I want to follow the lifestyle you've set for me in the Bible. I want Jesus to be my Savior and to forgive me, and I ask You to come in and take over my life. Amen.'
Life has not always been easy since I made a decision for Christ. But God does promise to give us strength to work through life's toughest struggles. The strength that He gives us lasts forever."
