If you hang around church people enough, you’ll begin to recognize that the main message of the Christian faith is often referred to as the gospel. But if you asked church people to explain what they mean when they use that word, you will probably get a few different answers or even just a confused look.
Many people assume that to be a disciple of Jesus somehow means that you must now do more religious things or go into full-time ministry. However, this is a false assumption.
Many of us often think about Christianity in terms of those who believe and those who don’t believe. But Jesus often taught about something that is not quite as clear as believers and nonbelievers. It is a condition that people often don’t see in themselves, and therefore a trap that is very deceptive and dangerous.
What if Jesus was serious when he said, “I want you to pray like this”? Sometimes we struggle with prayer because we are unsure of what to say or we feel like we’ve run out of things to say. But Jesus taught his disciples exactly what to say, and he wanted them to say it regularly.
